-

Colts appear well on track to re-entering Horsham Cricket Association’s A Grade competition after scoring a dramatic 11th-hour B Grade premiership victory.

Colts successfully defended 198 at Dudley Cornell Park at the weekend by bowling their opponents out for 180 with less than four overs to spare in the game.

First drop Josh Colbert topscored for the winners with 71 while bowlers, led by veteran Dean Arnott, shared in the spoils.

Horsham Saints’ Ayden Roberts produced his best figures for the season, capturing 6-33, and veteran Gary Davidson top-scored with 71 with support from Mark Crafter, 34. The game featured a variety of dramatic moments with the contest ebbing and flowing until the final wicket.

Quantong won an association C Grade title, bowling Homers out for 143 before finishing the contest at 7-148 at Coughlin Park in Horsham.

The victory was the result of a team effort with Jack Vague, 32, James Hallett, 30, and Peter Brand, 21, leading the way with the bat and a variety of bowlers capturing wickets.

For Homers, David Johns top-scored with 57, Mark Hallam made 28 and Bayley Burke made 25, while super veteran Barry Hopper captured 3-21.
