Veterans play at Minyip

Wimmera District Veteran Golfers Association will tee off at Minyip on Monday after fine and sunny conditions greeted 52 players for stableford competition at Murtoa.

The Murtoa course was in top condition after rain and players achieved good scores.

A Grade was a close contest with Tom O’connor from Horsham the eventual winner with 37 points after a three-way countback.

Bob Hayes, also from Horsham, took the runner-up prize.

B Grade winner Brian Gready, Murtoa, and C Grade winner, Max Rogers, Natimuk, both with 39 points, shared best round of the day.

Runner-up in B Grade was Locksley Brook, Horsham, 36 points, while a C Grade runner-up prize went to Les Loeliger, Murtoa, also 36. Nearest the pins: Third, Max Rogers; sixth, Bob Hayes; 12th, John Watson; 14th, Ivan Reinheimer.
