Phantoms on track

-

Phantoms teams participating in Victorian Volleyball League are on track for historic finals appearances after another strong showing.

A premier men’s team was pushed by Heidelberg but its class shone through in the end, recording a straight-sets victory and consolidating second position on the ladder.

Matthew Berry, Nick Adamson and Cam Robinson all played their roles to perfection and were key contributors to the team’s form, which sees them with a 7-3 win loss record.

Reserves men went down in four to Dandenong and now drop to fifth on the ladder.

Nathan Berry, Jayden Mcqueen, Tim Popple and Jack Hannan gave it their all but the opposition was very smooth with its team play.

Division three men, with Alan Jorgensen-price and Will Saligari, made short work of Mckinnon to keep their finals hopes alive.

Saligari impressed for the second week in a row.

The teams are 4-5 and face a mustwin game against Renegades on Saturday.

Reserves women conjured a win against Heidelberg.

Eadie Garth-lindsay played her first reserves game and fitted in well in the five-set victory, while Jess Radford continued with her good setting form. The girls are now seven wins and one loss and sit second on the ladder.

Division two women dropped a close game against Yarra and are now 5-5 and eighth on the ladder.

Kara Johnson and Laelah Robertson were among the best players in the three-set loss.

The team still has six games remaining for the season and holds strong hopes of making the finals.

Division three girls smashed Croydon 36ers, winning the third set 25-4.

Tamikah Dockrill continues to improve each week and enjoyed her best game for the season on Saturday. The girls are second on the ladder with six wins and two losses.
