Magic at Echuca

-

Stawell trainers Terry and Karina O’sullivan have continued their good run of form, with another win at Echuca on Sunday.

The O’sullivan partnership had talented mare Born Magic lining up in a benchmark-64 event, over 1400 metres, with Jessica Eaton in the saddle.

Born Magic was ridden patiently back in the field after the start, however still enjoyed a nice run in transit.

In a winning move, Eaton elected to stay on the fence and ride for luck.

Once in the straight, the daughter of Thewayyouare came off the fence and began to thread a needle-eye gap.

When Born Magic got the run, she hit the line strongly and was too good for her rivals, scoring a gutsy win.

Born Magic has enjoyed a near faultless preparation thus far, having had wins at Avoca and Echuca and a Sandown second placing from her past three starts.

Patrick Payne and his stable jockey Billy Egan coalesced for a winning double at Saturday’s Warracknabeal meeting.

Firstly, they combined with By The Pound in a maiden plate over 1200 metres.

The Advalorem gelding was too speedy for his rivals, leading all the way for a comprehensive win.

The second leg of the double came up in a 1600-metre 0-58 handicap, courtesy of Superveloce.

The former New Zealander was far too classy for the field, coming home with a wet sail and snatching victory on the post.

Caroline Springs jockey Dean Holland also had a fruitful day, riding two winners, A Moving Place and Verreaux for trainers Mark Ashby and Frank Conlan respectively.
