Demons the team to beat

Lismore-derrinallum is undefeated and on top spot of Mininera and District Football League’s ladder after six rounds.

The Demons will look to continue their form when they take on Woorndoo-mortlake this week.

In the Demons’ defeat of Moyston-willaura they started off the game strongly, going into quarter time 13 points up. But a fightback by Moyston-willaura in the second term led to the Pumas being seven points up going into the main break.

However, an eight-goal-toone third quarter gave Lismore-derrinallum not only the lead, but also breathing space, and although Moystonwillaura outscored its opponents in the last quarter, the damage was already done.

Lismore-derrinallum came away a 30-point victor.

Wayne Loader had a day out in front of goal, kicking seven to take his total to 12 after playing only two games, with Michael Lockyer contributing four of his own.

Jack Pitts and Tim Glasson were also instrumental in the win.

Woorndoo-mortlake is looking to keep its good start to the season rolling after last week having its fourth win, a 22-point victory over SMW Rovers.

Karl Dunn and Keilan Webster-bamford were best for the Tigers, with Jordon Buckley and Travis Ware the most productive of nine goalscorers, kicking three apiece.

Penshurst and Wickliffelake Bolac, both coming off wins last week, will play this week at Penshurst with the winner having a clear spot in the top three.

Both teams are sitting on 16 points.

The 10-point winning margin could have been considerably higher for Wickliffelake Bolac last week had its accuracy in front of goal been better, even though Joe Otto and Nathan Curtis did their fair share, kicking nine between them.

William Warner, Tristan May and Taylor Hall were best for the Magpies, who will again look to these players to fire to take out the win against the Bombers.

Penshurst led from the first bounce last week, 40 points up at the first change and finishing the game 52-point winners.

Justin Eales, Sam Weston and Jesse Dalton were the better players on the day with Dalton kicking five goals.

To complete the round, SMW Rovers play Ararat Eagles, Glenthompson-dunkeld travels to Macarthur to take on Hawkesdale-macarthur, Great Western plays Moystonwillaura and Caramut hosts Tatyoon.
