Equestrian success
Seven riders from Horsham, St Brigid’s and Longerenong colleges enjoyed success at a major equestrian competition at the weekend.
A Horsham College team of Morgan Lane, Paris Fiedler and Eliza Perris finished fifth in the Barastoc Interschool Qualifier at Elmore Equestrian Club.
Longerenong’s Julia Ash won reserve champion preliminary dressage and overall reserve champion in a tertiary section.
Lane and her horse Penstewart Isabella Amihra scored the second highest points of the weekend.
Lane won the reserve championship in 75cm show jumping.
St Brigid’s College was represented by Morgan Lord, Tatiarna Nelson and Jemma Brown.
More than 140 riders from across Victoria competed over two days in dressage, show jumping, combined training, showing, handy mount and cames.
Riders competed to qualify for the Equestrian Victoria Interschool State Championships, traditionally contested in April each year at Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre.
Results Morgan Lane: Secondary section, 3rd, novice 2.2 and novice; 1st, two phase 75cm show jumping; 4th, power and speed; reserve champion overall. Dressage, 7th preliminary 1.3; 1st, preliminary 1.2; 3rd 80cm combined training; 6th, novelties and games. Paris Fiedler: Secondary section, 4th, working hunter. Dressage, 3rd preliminary 1.3. Eliza Perris: 10th, handy mount. Tatiarna Nelson: 4th, novelties. Morgan Lord: 2nd, combined training 80cm; 5th, power and speed 90cm.
