Youth focus at second summit
The aim of a second Yarriambiack Youth Summit at Warracknabeal on August 18 will aim to engage, inspire and empower people in the region aged between 12 and 25.
The summit will be at Warracknabeal Town Hall from 10am to 2pm and feature a list of guest speakers as well as live music.
Yarriambiack Youth Action Council, Yarriambiack Shire Council, FREEZA and the Victorian Department of Justice and Regulation have joined forces to present the event.
Speakers include domestic violence survivor Simone O’brien, cyber bulling and online safety expert Brett Lee, wheelchair basketballer Jannik Blair and youth support and advocacy services expert Horace Wansborough, who will speak about alcohol and cannabis.
Warrnambool band Runk will provide music for the event.
Organisers expect the summit to attract more than 300 people from across the region.
The youth focus will shift from Warracknabeal in the day to Murtoa College in the evening.
A Ramp It Rage It Stage It Battle of the Bands heat, part of the State Government’s FREEZA program, will be at Murtoa from 6.30pm to 9pm.
Runk will headline the free show, with prizes up for grabs.
