Film and fireworks at Big Weekend

Organisers of Murtoa’s Big Weekend next month are hosting a free Family Fun and Film Night in celebratio­n of 21 years of the community event.

After a full day of activities at the 133rd Murtoa Show on October 6, patrons and families will have an opportunit­y to get involved in the family entertainm­ent on offer at Lake Marma from 6.30pm to 11pm.

Graincorp is backing the evening’s activities, which will include a barbeque tea, live music from Murtoa district band The Stumps and the feature film Paper Planes on a large outdoor screen.

The night will also include a fireworks display, designed to reflect the beauty of Lake Marma, and wind up the night’s entertainm­ent.

Invitation

Big Weekend committee members have extended an invitation to everyone across the Wimmera to join in their celebratio­ns and activities during Murtoa’s Big Weekend, which officially kicks off on Friday, October 6.

This year’s program includes tours of Murtoa’s heritage-listed Stick Shed, the annual show, a Saturday morning Monster Street Market and Show ’n’ Shine, Murtoa Cup race meeting, Dunmunkle Sumpoilers Historic Engines display, the Water Tower Museum and other attraction­s.

Murtoa’s Big Weekend also provides an opportunit­y for people to experience the Lake Marma and Rabl Park surrounds.
