Flamboyant and fun

The world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra will perform in Horsham as part of its 2017 Australian Tour.

The orchestra will present its classic hits in Horsham Town Hall on Friday from 7.30pm.

The showcase will feature 24 musicians, singers and dancers in a performance highlighting the great ‘Big Band’ hits and original Glenn Miller arrangements.

The show will also include the music of the Andrews Sisters, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and romantic Second World War melodies made famous by Vera Lynn.

The concert will feature dance routines by Broadway Swing Dancers.

Musical director Rick Gerber said Glenn Miller musical arrangements were unique.

“Even after 80 years, they are still heard worldwide; timeless icons of American culture such as Chattanooga Choochoo, In the Mood, Tuxedo Junction, A String of Pearls, Moonlight Serenade, Little Brown Jug and Pennsylvania 6-5000 – music hits that captivated millions of people,” he said.

“The Glenn Miller Orchestra is a colourful and flamboyant evening filled with fun and nostalgia of the ’30s and ’40s.

“Our unique jazz sound is sought all around the world and in addition to recreating the golden era of swing, we bring to life the colour, costumes and spirit.”

Tickets for the evening of nostalgia cost $89.90 for adults, $84.90 concession and $79.90 for a group of 10 or more.
