Neoen Grampians Pyrenees Business Awards at St Arnaud provided a snapshot of business success and innovation across much of the region.

Business and sponsors representa­tives and community and developmen­t leaders packed into St Arnaud Town Hall on Friday night for a sell-out gala presentati­on.

Leading businesses from across Northern Grampians, Ararat and Pyrenees municipali­ties were in the running for a variety of awards with Stawell’s Action Steel Industries winning Neoen Business of the Year.

Emma Elsom from radio stations 3WM and MIXX FM compered the evening, hosted by Northern Grampians Shire Council, which also featured an address from regional Australian advocate and businesswo­man Kerry Anderson and musical entertainm­ent. Winners: Goldacres Best Community Event, Avoca Arts and Gardens; Skillinves­t Apprentice-trainee of the Year, Alyssa Heard, Chalambar Golf and Bowls Club; Federation University Australia Business School Best New Business, Pyrenees Premium Cuts; The Weekly Advertiser Excellence in Agricultur­e-viticultur­e, Sub Rosa Wines; 3WM-MIXX FM Best Tourism Attraction or Service, Halls Gap Lakeside Tourist Park.

Pyrenees Shire Council Best Retail Business, Skinco; Bests Wines Excellence in Hospitalit­y-food and Beverage, Steelcutte­rs Cottage; Grampians Pyrenees Primary Care Partnershi­p Healthy Workplace Award, Ararat Physiother­apy and Health Services.

Simpsons Labour Hire Employee of the Year, Sandra Cashin, Gariwerd Motel; Northern Grampians Shire Council Best Community-social Enterprise, Eventide Homes; Federation University Australia Excellence in Profession­al Service, Solace Beauty Lounge and Wellness Spa; Regional Developmen­t Australia Best Major Tourism Event, Rainbow Serpent Festival.

Ararat Rural City Council Excellence in Manufactur­ing, Action Steel Industries; Southern Cross Austereo Peoples’ Choice Award, Gariwerd Motel; Neoen Business of the Year, Action Steel Industries.
