Call for DJS for festival spin

-

Grampians Music Festival organisers are looking for regional Victorians ‘with an insane music collection and a passion for performance’.

They are looking for DJS to ‘spin some wax’ on a Halls Gap Valley Floor Stage in a regional DJ competition.

Festival director Carly Flecknoe said last year’s inaugural competition was a hit, with DJ Zatchie from Stawell, whose real name is Zac Walker, winning the top gong.

Ms Flecknoe said the team behind the festival, from February 2 to 4, was keen to promote, encourage and support regional Victorian artists and the DJ competition was one way that qualified.

Zatchie said the win had helped his career and urged anyone who loved to DJ to enter the competition.

“I had the opportunity to play on the main stage and close out Friday night at the festival, which, while it was terrifying, was an absolutely surreal experience and one that I would not change for the world,” he said.

“During the weekend I also played between band sets, which gave me heaps more exposure and furthered my DJ career.

“It was definitely one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.”

The winner of the DJ competition gets to headline the first night of the festival, known as Best of the West for its regional Victorian artist line-up, play between sets alongside some of the country’s best musical talent, and gets a VIP ticket package for themselves and a friend.

Entries for the DJ competition are open.

DJS need to film themselves performing a live set with live mixing, and post it to the Grampians Music Festival Facebook page before entries close at midnight on November 30.

Entrants must be from regional Victoria. Full competition terms and conditions are on the Grampians Music Festival website.

Organisers announced a 2018 festival line-up earlier this month.
