Pretlove elected
Councillor Jodie Pretlove is West Wimmera Shire’s new mayor.
Cr Pretlove was elected Edenhope.
She said she felt privileged to be chosen to lead the shire in the important role.
“I thank my councillor colleagues for their support and the trust they are placing in me,” she said.
“I would also like to acknowledge the leadership and guidance provided by the outgoing mayor, councillor Bruce Meyer, over the past 12 months since I was elected to council.”
Cr Pretlove lives on her family’s farming property at Minimay with her husband Craig.
The couple has three adult children who are pursuing individual careers.
Cr Pretlove spent more than 20 years running her own hairdressing business and said she understood the unique challenges faced by small business and farmers alike.
Cr Pretlove is the shire’s fifth female mayor since amalgamation in 1995.
She follows in the footsteps of the late Carlyne Whitehead, 1998, Linda Guthridge, 2002 and 2006, Eveline van Breugel, 2012, and Annette Jones, 2015 and 2016.
“I look forward to engaging with our local communities and working collaboratively for the benefit of all who make West Wimmera their home,” Cr Pretlove said. at a statutory meeting at
