Hornets back

-

Horsham Hornets men’s and women’s outfits will look to pick up where they left off when they return from a Christmas-new Year break on Saturday.

Both Horsham teams are enjoying a stellar season in Country Basketball League’s new north-west conference and are sitting on top of their respective ladders.

The Horsham men have two games remaining for the home-and-away season.

They will host fifth-placed Kyneton at the weekend before meeting third-placed Mildura, also at home, on January 20. The Hornets defeated Kyneton by 37 points when the sides last met, in November, and will be out to keep their record against the Tigers intact.

The Hornets women will play their final game for the home-and-away season on Saturday, with a bye the following week.

The Lady Hornets were undermanned the last time they met Kyneton and were forced to fight for their four-point victory. The Horsham outfit will look to enter finals on a high note by defeating the Tigers and retaining top spot.

Ararat

The Ararat Redbacks have three south-west conference games remaining before finals.

The Redbacks will meet Terang at Terang on Saturday night, followed by matches against Millicent and Portland.

Ararat’s two wins have come against Terang and Portland and the Redbacks will look to finish their inaugural season on a high note.

Ararat’s women’s team will look to add to its one win for the season after a competitive showing. The women also have three games remaining and will front up against the Tornadoes on Saturday.

Women’s CBL matches start at 6pm, followed by the men’s at 8pm.
