Grampians squad set for clash
Nine Grampians Cricket Association clubs are represented in a 13-man squad to compete against former Australian cricket stars including Doug Bollinger, Andy Bichel and Julia Price.
The Grampians squad will compete against an Australian Cricket Association Masters team at Ararat’s Alexandra Oval on Friday at 5.15pm.
The teams will contest a Twenty20 match as part of the masters program, developed by the ACA, the official representative body of past and present players.
Tatyoon’s Jarrod Blandford will captain the Grampians outfit, while Bollinger is the latest star named in the masters line-up.
The retired fast bowler boasts more than 400 games of international and domestic experience.
Talented youngsters Kayla Stuchbree, 17, Ryan Nellthorp, 16, Aaron Byron, 16, and Reece Kettle, 15, will vie for an ACA Masters Scholarship.
The scholarship recipient will collect a $1000 bursary following the Twenty20 match on Friday.
The winner will also have an opportunity to be mentored by a masters player.
Festivities will kick off with a sportsman’s night tomorrow evening. The event will be at Alexandra Oval Community Centre from 7pm.
