Americana show for Ararat
The John Flanagan Trio will bring a unique blend of ’60s and ’70s folk combined with a contemporary Americana-bluegrass sound to Ararat Hotel next week.
The trio, comprising award-winning songwriter John Flanagan, double bass player Liz Frencham and virtuoso guitar and mandolin player Daniel Watkins, will perform for Ararat Live on May 23.
Ararat Live’s Rob Shea said he was thrilled the trio had included Ararat on its eastern states tour promoting its latest album, ‘Honest Man’. “The dynamic trio are known for their warm vocal harmonies and impressive acoustic arrangements; their music has been described as the Australian version of Americana,” he said.
“John’s warm vocal delivery and engaging storytelling has seen him compared with James Taylor and Paul Kelly, while Liz has a remarkable stage presence and her creativity on the double bass has seen her play alongside several internationally renowned artists.
“Dan is recognised as one of the finest young bluegrass pickers in the country and has toured extensively around Australia and the United States.”
Mr Shea said Ararat Live audiences could expect a dynamic and energetic live show.
“This show will be a little different; it is the first time a band of this genre, Americana-bluegrass, has played for Ararat Live,” he said.
The show starts at 8pm and entry is $20.
