Historic show sponsors call

-

Horsham Agricultural Society is calling business owners who sponsored its centenary show 40 years ago to come forward.

Society secretary Andrea Cross said organisers busy preparing for the 140th Grand Annual Horsham Show on September 29 and 30 discovered businesses that sponsored the show in 1978 were still operating.

“We were going through old show schedules for a memorabilia display and were amazed to find quite a few advertisements for businesses who sponsored the Horsham show back then,” she said. “Phone numbers and some logos have changed, but most locations haven’t.”

Mrs Cross said the benefits offered to sponsors had changed during the past 40 years and this year all sponsors would get free tickets to Horsham German Fest in November.

“Among the many benefits, we are also creating a sponsors wall on Maydale Pavilion for our major sponsors, where signs will be permanently fitted,” she said.

Mrs Cross also invited new sponsors to support the historical event.

The society is organising a membership drive in an effort to encourage families to pre-buy show tickets early or buy a membership, which offered two adult tickets and four children’s tickets plus a double pass to Horsham German Fest.

Tickets for the 140th Grand Annual Horsham Agricultural Show are $15 for adults or $10 for students and concession. Pre-schoolers are free of charge. Memberships are $55 and tickets are available online at www. trybooking.com/usve or from a show office Tuesdays to Thursdays.
