Teams chase early highs

- BY ONE SHORT

Grampians Cricket Association A Grade clubs will play the first two-day matches of the season in round two.

Youth Club will host St Andrews in the match of the round at North Park, Stawell, with both sides looking to cement an early top-four spot after round-one victories.

St Andrews will look to dismiss Youth Club match-winner Nic Baird early after his impressive start to the season against Halls Gap at the weekend.

Baird’s unbeaten 123 helped the Clubbers to a massive 4-267 from 40 overs.

Halls Gap was all out for 54 in reply.

St Andrews also started strongly with a 21-run victory against Aradale. Adam Haslett’s 38 runs led the Saints to a total of 7-149.

Aradale opener Corey Taylor’s 55 runs could not get his team across the line, with the side all out for 128 in reply.

Buangor-tatyoon will seek to put points on the board against Halls Gap after a loss to Swifts-great Western.

Judging by Halls Gap’s first outing, Buangor-tatyoon should be confident of at least some points from this encounter at Buangor.

Buangor-tatyoon batsmen Lachlan Oddie, Jacob Bates and Aaron Byron will all look to build on solid round-one innings of more than 30 runs.

Aradale is at home to Pomonal in the final match and will be anxious to post a win. Aradale was not disgraced at the weekend and will look to improve its batting to give the bowlers some runs to bowl to.

Pomonal is yet to play a match after a first-round bye, so its form is a mystery.

Swifts-great Western has a bye this round.
