Momentum for Spikezone

Registrations are rolling in nicely for Volleyball Horsham’s term four Spikezone program.

Volleyball’s version of Auskick, Spikezone is designed to introduce upper primary schoolaged children to the sport in a fun environment with accredited coaches.

After running Spikezone sessions in term two, where we had programs at Murtoa and Horsham, we were successful in gaining a dozen youngsters into our junior competition.

While the next program coincides with the end of the Volleyball Horsham domestic season, there is a Primary Schools Cup at the State Volleyball Centre in late November.

Interested Wimmera schools could quite easily get their students brought up to speed by getting quality coaching in the lead-up to this event.

Volleyball development officer Tim Popple is working with Horsham Holy Trinity Lutheran College, while Gary Davidson, at Horsham West, has two teams preparing for Greater Western Region Primary School finals.

The Spikezone program will run on Wednesdays with sessions at St Brigid’s College gymnasium between 4.45pm and 5.45pm.

There will be a session a week for the next six weeks.

For a $15 registration fee, each participant receives a backpack, ball, t-shirt and drink bottle.
