National award for region’s water boss
GWmwater managing director Mark Williams has won national recognition during an awards ceremony in Sydney.
Mr Williams won a major category at The CEO Magazine’s prestigious 2018 Executive of the Year Awards.
He won an energy and resources executive of the year category ahead of stiff competition from across the country.
The award celebrates the achievements of company executives and acknowledges the contributions they have made to their companies and industries.
Gwmwater board chairman Peter Vogel said the award recognised Mr Williams’ tireless work to improve the economic prosperity and environmental health and wellbeing of the region.
“On behalf of the board I commend Mark for his efforts, which have been deservedly recognised by receiving this important award,” he said.
“Water is the lifeblood of our region.
“During his time at the helm of Gwmwater, Mark has been instrumental in achieving water security and sustainability for communities and businesses across western Victoria.
“This award recognises the innovative approach to service design and delivery taken by the business since Mark’s appointment as managing director in 2012, and the results this has delivered to customers across the Grampians, Wimmera and Mallee.”
Mr Williams said his award reflected how Gwmwater worked with and for its communities.
“All of what we’ve done has and is about securing regional supply, shoring up recreation water and generally enhancing the liveability of the region,” he said.
“I’ve had a very supportive board and a highly capable organisation behind me.
“This award is really recognition for what Gwmwater has done for the community.”
