Wedding beamed into lodge cinema

Warracknabeal couple Graham and Beverley Hobbs had resigned themselves to the realisation that they would have to miss their granddaughter Lauri’s wedding.

Lauri was getting married in Sydney and had organised airline tickets for her grandparents to attend.

But a sharp decline in health made the trip impossible for the pair and all looked lost for the important family event.

Fortunately, technology was able to step in and save the day, along with close friends.

Mr Hobbs was in respite care at Rural Northwest Health’s Yarriambiack Lodge when the wedding date arrived and his wife had been at home convalescing from treatment.

A plan was devised for the pair to watch the wedding via Skype media in the comfort of the lodge’s Dal Monte cinema.

Family friends and technowizards John and Joan Thomson were able to connect the cinema equipment to the broadcast so the couple could talk to Grant ZKLOH KH ZDV ¿OPLQJ WKH ZHG ding.

Mrs Hobbs was impressed with the technology and that they could view the entire wedding in plush chairs from the climatecontrolled comfort of the cinema.

“It was good that we were able to see the entire wedding,” Mrs Hobbs said.

“She looked lovely.”
