More surprises

-

Round six of Stawell Tennis Club’s Friday night competition provided more surprises, with Grampians Joinery maintaining its hot streak with a methodical win over Findex.

Farrers Tyrepower meanwhile, was dethroned from top spot following a second consecutive loss to a bottom-placed team.

Grampians Joinery continued to ride its tidal wave of momentum, this time clinically dispatching Findex to the tune of 13 sets, 144 games to 10 sets, 133 games.

Findex entered the contest full of confidence following last week’s upset victory, but Grampians Joinery’s big guns quickly erased any chances of a repeat performance.

Ben Martin, Jade Cross and Shane Field led the charge and, with Carel Chang continuing the onslaught, the contest was all but over. Jenny Stevens, Henry Clough and Melissa Sutherland tried valiantly to stage a comeback but the damage had been done.

Grampians Joinery on the other hand now finds itself perched atop the ladder.

Delahunty Plumbing kept its slim finals hopes alive with a thrilling 12-147 games to 11-145 triumph over premiership favourite Farrers Tyrepower.

In a neck-and-neck battle it was Amy Millar, Elise Monaghan and Molly Orr who were the heroes in the two-game win. Leon Monaghan continued his run of form for Farrers Tyrepower and was well supported by Jamie Perry and Jemima Harney, however more contributors will be required to stop the team’s season from being derailed altogether.

Delahunty Plumbing is now within striking distance of the other three sides.
