Washing away work stresses
A Horsham hairdresser is offering free pampering sessions for healthcare staff working to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
Sheer Urbane Hair Horsham owner Stacey Turnbull said hairdressing staff would treat healthcare workers to a complimentary shampoo and style.
“We’re offering it to all healthcare workers to say thank-you for putting yourself on the front line and just acknowledging all the stress that they’ve been under during this time,” she said.
“It means for 30 minutes to an hour, they can pamper themselves and just forget about it.”
Plenty of uncertainty surrounded if and how hairdressers could operate when the government announced shutdowns of ‘non-essential’ businesses in March.
Ms Turnbull, like many other Wimmera hairdressing business owners, chose to shut her salon to protect staff and clients from the potential spread of COVID-19.
She reopened Sheer Urbane on Thursday last week.
“We have put precautions in place for customers and staff,” she said.
“We are putting in more disinfecting measures than usual.
“In between each person we are completely disinfecting the station and anywhere they go in the salon.
“We’re also only using four out of our seven chairs, keeping a 1.5-metre distance between them, and four metres across.”
Ms Turnbull said she was pleased to reopen the salon.
“It has been a bit difficult for sure, but we are all getting back on track and reopening,” she said.
“We have a lot of community support, which is amazing.”
Ms Turnbull said healthcare workers could call Sheer Urbane on 5381 0810 or message the salon’s Facebook page to book.
She said people must show their health care group identification to qualify for the free treatment.
