City updates road projects
Horsham Rural City Council will continue with key road infrastructure projects ensuring roads needing attention are rebuilt long-lasting.
The council’s reconstruction of Horsham’s Federation Avenue is progressing, with the final seal on part of the busy residential street laid more than a week ago.
Works to reconstruct between Kalimna Avenue and Drummond Street will continue over the coming months.
The road has been completely rebuilt between Mcdowell Court and Mintern Crescent. The replacement of drainage pits, nature strips and kerb and channel is also part of the works.
Council infrastructure services director John Martin said ongoing council works would guarantee roads were built durable.
“The end result will be a new and improved pavement and better drainage that will help keep the road in good condition for decades to come,” he said.
Mr Martin thanked nearby residents for their patience during the period of disruption.
“This is an important project to meet current and future needs at this location,” he said.
Meanwhile, roadworks are continuing in Johnson Street, between Tucker and Culliver streets.
Mr Martin said kerb and channel replacement was completed this week, and contractors would soon start the removal of the old road pavement, making way for reconstruction.
The council is also preparing for major works on Fechler Avenue.
Nearby residents have been notified and reconstruction works will start in coming weeks.
