Game milestone for club stalwart
Harrow-balmoral netballer Janelle Knight has reached a club milestone and new club record after playing her 400th game for the Southern Roos.
Knight said it ‘had not sunk in yet’ that she had played 400 games.
“I think when I retire, I’ll realise what a big achievement it is,” she said.
“Physically, I have been lucky with no major injuries or soft tissue problems, except for a knee reconstruction in 2005.
“I enjoy how family-orientated Harrow-balmoral is – it’s where I grew up so it’s good to be able to go to Harrow to see my mum.
“I enjoy playing with all my teammates and coaches, and always have.”
After playing juniors with Douglas-harrow-miga Lake, Knight has only played a few seasons away from Harrow-balmoral, when she was playing for Horsham.
Knight played her 400th club game in round 15, in B Grade against Swifts when her team won by 21 goals.
During her time with Harrow-balmoral, Knight has played in four A Grade premierships, coached a B Grade premiership and has received club best-andfairest honours. As a club stalwart Knight is also a life member.
Knight said she felt fortunate she could not pinpoint her biggest achievement.
“There are so many. Premierships are fantastic, seeing juniors and seniors improve and other jobs around the club is also so rewarding,” she said.
Harrow-balmoral netball director Tim Leeming said Knight was a ‘real leader’.
“She epitomises what everyone should strive for as a team player and a leader,” he said.
“She has been involved in junior development and coaching for the past decade and played A Grade for most of her career. She is a team player and has a whole community, whole club mentality.”
