Disney on Ice: Dare to Dream

-

Ice skater Lauren Anderson tells Ben Chapple about playing a princess

When Lauren Anderson was seven she used to sleep in her ice-skating clothes so she’d be ready to train as soon as the alarm sounded. Now the Minnesota native is coming to Australia to perform in Disney on Ice: Dare to Dream –a show that celebrates 75 years of the brand’s princess stories.

Lauren, were you a Disney fan as a child? One of my first books was a Disney book: Beauty and the Beast. I loved the 101 Dalmatians movie, too.

What can kids expect from the show? Even if you’re not familiar with Snow White or Cinderella or Rapunzel and Flynn’s story from Tangled, the show tells a lot of that story with some amazing skating, too. Then, of course, there’s Mickey and

Minnie and Goofy and Donald Duck.

Are there any similarities between you and Cinderella, the character you play? I’d like to say I have hope and dedication like Cinderella. She’s a very inspiring character. I joined the company as an ensemble skater so I had a chance to play lots of roles.

Do you have any pre-show routines or superstitions? I always put my left skate on before my right. No reason for it, I just started doing it. I don’t know if it’s a superstition or just a habit.
