SPRING ART
MARAMA DINA
Australian and Aotearoa New Zealand women with iTaukei (Indigenous Fijian) heritage take over Campbelltown Arts Centre to celebrate their culture as part of a new exhibition. Constructed within the exhibition is a vale ni soqo (village meeting house), offering a space where Pasifika communities can gather, and visitors can learn and explore what it is to be a ‘Fijian’ woman in Western Sydney today.

SCULPTURE BY THE SEA
Sydney’s favourite public art event is returning for its 23rd year, bringing more than 100 sculptures to the seaside. There’s a chance this could be the event’s last year on the two-kilometre Bondi to Tamarama coastal walk, after the organisation protested about a new accessible pathway.

ÓJAPAN SUPERNATURAL
The Art Gallery of NSW usually looks to Europe or the US for its big summer blockbusters, but this year they’re bringing us an epic exhibition of all things Japanese. There will be more than 180 works from artists ranging from the great master Katsushika Hokusai through to contemporary superstar Takashi Murakami. The gallery is promising a “theatrical” and “multisensory” look at Japan’s rich history of art.
