Is there some­thing dis­taste­ful about launch­ing a car called Avalanche at the quite-near-the-Alps Geneva mo­tor show? Well, yes. And that’s not where the taste short­fall ends. Gem­balla’s third-gen­er­a­tion Avalanche (yep, there have been two more) was one of many eye-wa­ter­ingly mod­i­fied su­per­cars at spring’s Swiss show, and per­haps the worst. Based on the al­ready time-warp­ing Porsche 911 Turbo, it gets an­other 276bhp (tak­ing it to nearly 820bhp), as well as not just a gi­nor­mous wing, but an ac­tual fin at the back. It makes the 2017 F1 grid look aero­dy­nam­i­cally re­served. And we’ve not even men­tioned that it’s a lurid shade of pur­ple…
