BMW X3 3.0d
BMW’s family SUV with the best motor, the beefy 3.0-litre turbodiesel. Huge torque, 40mpg, good response and a real turn of pace.
If you want a family hauler, the 2.0-litre TD does the job for less, but if you want a performance SUV there are other options... But it struggles against the rest of the car, which just isn’t very interesting. Plain to look at, sit in and drive. Too much vanilla.
Think Stelvio and Macan. The X3 is very mature, but lacks the dynamism a BMW ought to have. Have a look at the M40i instead.
