When did small cars get this grown-up? The 3cyl doesn’t thrum or burble, it hums like an EV. The new 208 shuns wind noise. It’s a capsule of zen. This is the most powerful manual you can get – the 128bhp version is auto only, and truth be told the gearbox here is a bit floppy. But everything else, from the design to the handling, is so mature… the only French idiosyncrasy left is not being able to see the speedo over the tiny wheel. OK
