“Hey everyone...”

Spidey senses tingle as Peter Parker finally joins the MCU.

- MM

After a long (and we’re guessing boring) legal wrangle, Spider-Man is finally going to appear alongside the Avengers on the big screen, with Marvel honcho Kevin Feige and Sony coming to a mutually beneficial decision to share the freshly rebooted webslinger. Played by 19-year-old Tom

Holland ( The Impossible, In The Heart Of

The Sea), this is the youngest cinematic Spidey ever. While his involvement is being kept largely under wraps – “He’s certainly a character that’s more fun for people to discover when they go see the movie,” says Joe Russo, evasively – his brief appearance at the end of the trailer, springing into action and cuffing Cap with a well timed webbing spurt, giddy with excitement. While new tech (Stark’s?) means Spider-Man can squint, the suit is pleasingly retro; rather than getting a radical overhaul, the costume, with its minimal chest badge, almost harks back to the Nicholas Hammond-starring TV show of the ’70s, although it’s considerably less pyjama-like and saggy. “He was my favourite character growing up,” continues Joe Russo. “I have an incredible amount of passion for Spider-Man. It was very important for us to execute an interpretation of the character that was loyal to how I felt about him as an 11-year-old. So we were very dedicated to casting an actor very close in age to the age of the character. And also, an actor with that youthful spirit and insecurity that comes with being that age and having that kind of power.” Post- Civil War, this Spider-Man is getting his own movie. Directed by Jon Watts ( Cop Car), it arrives in summer 2017.
