WELCOME TO FILM

Bow down, all. This issue, the king of big-screen spectacle, Christopher Nolan, is back with his blockbuster take on one of WW2’s key moments in Dunkirk. We went to Dunkirk itself (by helicopter, no less!) to talk to all the cast and filmmakers about their role in this immersive experience and I was lucky enough to sit in on Nolan’s sound mixing and quiz him on his genius. (I drove round the WB blacklot on a golf cart like I was in The Player so two ticks on the bucket list.) I also talked work/life balances (and parenting) with Colin Farrell, and the team celebrated the Planet Of The Apes universe, travelled to a galaxy far, far away (well, Orlando) for Star Wars Celebration, burned rubber with Edgar Wright for Baby Driver and chatted with Big Little Lies’ Celeste, Nicole Kidman, about her numerous hot projects incoming. We also decamped to the French Riviera for the Cannes Film Festival so expect exclusives from that appearing here over the next couple of months.
