Ranging from Cujo and conspiracies to cake recipes, Ebury’s guide to the nostalgic worlds of Stranger Things is expansive but far from incisive. Taken as a set of notes on ’80s culture, it spans King, Spielberg, Goblin, Carpenter and deeper period nods like Dead & Buried (1981) and Fabio Frizzi. Yet the rushed (and gratingly arch) prose style and scrapbook padding (‘homework’, fancy-dress guides) complete a picture of an over-familiar thing: the quick cash-in. Kevin Harley
