THE KETTERING INCIDENT

Intrigue is piqued but patience is tested in this tense but slow-paced Aussie mystery. Elizabeth Debicki plays Anna Macy, a London doctor suffering from blackouts who wakes up in a small Tasmanian town where, as a girl, she experienced bright lights and the disappearance of her friend. Taking cues from Lynch and Nordic Noir, the show often confounds while offering little reward, but its unusual setting and baffling plot make for a satisfyingly weird combination. Matt Looker
