aPict warrior suffering from psychosis is plunged into a grisly hellscape in this vividly realised adventure, informed by the input of mental health experts. Newcomer Melina Juergens delivers a haunting performance, and it’s a technical and artistic triumph, but this bracingly singular vision is undercut by tedious puzzles, long-winded fight sequences and an overwrought, overwritten script that undercuts its message with a trite, sequel-baiting ending.
