THE MOVIE I LOVE THAT EVERYONE ELSE HATES

-

Oh God, that’s a good question. [Long pause] PRÊT-À-PORTER, by Robert Altman. I thought it was great, entertaining, lots of actors clearly enjoying themselves with silly, big, juicy characters. I can see why people don’t love it but I did. It came out when I was in my real Altman phase. It doesn’t have the texture of Short Cuts or Gosford Park or M*A*S*H or Nashville, but I still think there’s something joyous and clever about it. It’s not a film I’ve thought about in many years but I remember defending it.
