THE WOUND
OUT 27 april
Closeted black male sexuality is at the heart of South African filmmaker John Trengove’s intense debut. Factory worker Xolani (Nakhane Touré) travels to the mountains, where he acts as caregiver to teenage Xhosa boys undergoing a rites-of-passage ritual. Avoiding picturesque imagery, The Wound sticks to the shifting dynamics between its three leads before delivering a powerful ending.
