after losing a bet to a talking wolf – voiced oddly, and rather well, by Sting – a wanderer traipses across Depression-era America, gathering stories to tell strangers. These short text escapades feature choices that determine your tales, which are in turn embellished as they’re retold. It’s a striking idea, but the well-written (if too brief) episodes aren’t sufficient reward for the exasperatingly slow exploration, nor the survival elements that add nothing but busywork. CS
