The sex scenes were very explicit. How did you approach them?

François is someone who is very straightforward, and we talked about those scenes. But the work is mainly done based on the trust shared among the three of us, and I think the scenes are very beautiful. They’re erotic without ever being vulgar.

You switch a lot between the twins you play. Did you ever get confused?

No. The first part of the shoot, I was Paul. The second part, I had to play Louis. Then I took pleasure in building the character

– I enjoyed skipping from one to the other.

Did you study twins for the film?

Not really. Everything was in the screenplay. The two different personalities were well described. The toughest was Paul, because he was more ordinary and he needed little details to be singled out compared to the other twin.

You first worked with Ozon on 1999’s Has he changed?

Criminal Lovers.

I was a young man back then, just 17. And now I’ve made many films in between. But it’s funny, I seem to be able to find the same humour that was on that first set with him. JM
