Sergio G. Sánchez, screenwriter of The Orphanage and The Impossible, makes his feature debut with this ’60s-set psychological chiller. After the death of the Marrowbone clan’s mother, troubled Jack (Captain Fantastic’s George MacKay) is charged with looking after his three younger siblings in the rundown, spooky family home. Toying with ghostly tropes but delivering few shocks, it’s an uneven ride, but splendid work from MacKay and wholesome love interest Anya Taylor-Joy keep you invested. James Mottram
