Casting a spell on Blu for the first time (despite the Season 8 finale airing way back in 2006), this fantasy series delivers a hex-citable mix of X-Files-y cases (wendigo, ghost serial killer), spells gone awry and sparky banter between the Halliwell witch sisters, played by Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano. There’s a fair share of clangers (the Egyptian curse episode is pure ’90s cheese), but as Charmed refines its brew (a ’70s time jump, the ‘woogyman’), it becomes increasingly, bewitchingly watchable.
