OMG Science fiction is rarely as cerebral and heartfelt as it in Arrival, an atypical story of love, loss and first contact. Twelve alien spacecraft hover over Earth, and it’s down to linguistics professor Louise (Adams) to decipher their spherical messages, a task that will eventually alter her perception of time. ‘Beginning’ with a Up-esque prologue, and building to a climax that’s breathlessly tense and inescapably moving, Arrival breaks your heart as it blows your mind.
