JOAN OF ARC TBC
FILM OUT NOW DIGITAL HD
Bruno Dumont follows up 2017’s Jeanette: The Childhood Of Joan Of Arc with this look at Joan (a returning Lise Leplat Prudhomme) during her most famous exploits: leading the French army against the English, before being tried for heresy. Austere and restrained – don’t expect oversized battle sequences – Joan Of Arc employs stylised scene-setting, an elliptical timeframe, imposing architecture and plaintive pop songs (!) to amplify the sense of alienation. A peculiar dream of a film in which Prudhomme gives a mesmerising performance. Jamie Graham
