JORDAN PETERS
IS DROPPING THE MIC.
It was very exciting!” Jordan Peters beams as he talks about playing one of the leads in Pirates, a new comedy by Reggie Yates. After parts in Gangs Of London and Blue Story, the 25-year-old Londoner is ready to take centre stage. Coming up, he’ll also appear in Band Of Brothers companion piece Masters Of The Air, and literary adaptation Everything I Know About Love.
What was it like working with Yates?
He was just so collaborative throughout the whole process. Before we started shooting, he took me and the two other boys [Elliot Edusah and Reda Elazouar] to Suffolk just so we could have a bonding session.
His energy is infectious. He’s so funny. I didn’t realise how funny he was! He’s like a mentor to me now.
How did you tap into the mindset of your character Two Tonne?
Some people that I know are kind of like Two Tonne so I got inspiration from them. How they chat to girls, how they move, how they feel they’re super cool but they’re not really that cool. [laughs]
After Gangs Of London and Blue Story, was it a relief for you to do something more lighthearted?
One hundred per cent! It was fun doing those jobs, but it’s a lot. So when Pirates came along, I was like: ‘Thank God!’ There is a bit of a danger when you’re first starting out that you can be pigeonholed. Pirates is a blessing because it shows how versatile I am.
You’re appearing in a TV adaptation of the book Everything I Know About Love. What was your first impression of the script?
I thought it was great! When I first read it, I said to my agent: “I definitely want to get this.” We have these four women leading the show. It’s just hilarious and shows something that I personally haven’t seen on TV before.
