“[The song] Surfing With The Alien was a bit longer, actually: there was a pre-chorus section that at the very last minute John and I decided to get rid of. I played John Cuniberti my four-track cassette version of the song and I said, ‘Well, this is the way the track goes, but I don’t know about that part. It’s 16 bars extra of a pre-chorus section,’ and John looked at me like, ‘Well, if you’re having second thoughts, let’s just get rid of it.’
