Jerry Cantrell was one of the more accomplished lead players of the 90s grunge movement. His solo in Them Bones showcases fluent, melodic phrasing over what is a tricky chord progression (thanks to its ‘one fret at a time’ chromatic changes) and a time signature that changes from 7/8 to 4/4 and back to 7/8 again.
