Goodbye Chuck Berry
Early pioneer of rock ’n’ roll, Chuck Berry passed away on 18 March from natural causes, age 90. A genuine trailblazer, Chuck carried the lick and showmanship influence of T-Bone Walker and duck-walked with it for his adaption of the Western Swing song Ida Red as Maybellene for Chess Records in 1955. It created the blueprint for rock by fusing genres. Seminal songs including Johnnie B. Goode and Roll Over
Beethoven followed, inspiring legends. Chuck’s final studio album is set for release this year.
