A closer look at the Fluence technology…

Fishman says the Fluence is the biggest change in the history of guitar pickups, and it has a point. The Fluence Core is made of two 48-layer boards, each packing printed mini-coils and spacers – its technology based on the notion that coils can be applied rather than wound, which usually involves one long strip of copper wire going around a bobbin thousands of times. The old methods are prone to fluctuation, which is what gives certain pickups extra hum, more noise or perhaps even something beneficial – the happy accidents if you will. Fishman’s new technology removes that romance or margin for error, depending on how you see things, and while it all feels a little Skynet to begin with, the benefits are quite breathtaking indeed.
