D9, G9 and A9 are the main chords in our jam track. Played with the right groove these have an edgy, funky sound. For variation try adding an extension to D9 and changing the G9 to G13. It’s a typical funk and soul rhythm trick as heard in James Brown’s Get Up (I Feel Like Being A) Sex Machine.
