For his fourth album the British acoustic singer-songwriter is getting personal and it’s unlocked a new level of upbeat accessibility that should see him reach the bigger audience his talents most definitely deserve. The addition of electric textures brings a John Mayer feel in the memorable Coodercaster doubled lead of Possession and tasteful breaks in Desire. His folk-schooled fingerstyle adds intimate drama to Undone, but Smith’s rich vocal shares equal billing here and it’s hard not to be reminded of the soulful delivery of John Martyn in Save My Life and Far
