7There are few people that can beat Young in a battle of wills. Longtime producer David Briggs was one, David Geffen was not. Following commercial electronic flop Trans, Geffen Records requested a rock ’n’ roll album. Young responded with this 25-minute rockabilly record. It’s Young’s biggest faux-pas, musically, but that’s besides the point. There was a greater creative purpose as he told Nick Kent: “If I build something up, I have to systematically tear it right down before people decide, ‘Oh that’s how we can define him’.” Standout track: Kinda Fonda Wanda
